But if you've never had the pleasure of joining us for one, you may be wondering: What exactly is a Trunk Show? We definitely think it's something you should come in and experience for yourself, but if you want to know what you should expect, we've got you covered.
So, What Are Trunk Shows?
Simply put, Trunk Shows are special events that highlight one (or, occasionally, two or three) of your favorite brands . Often, a representative from the brand will be on hand to answer questions, help you find the right shoes for you, and even order a style that isn't immediately available. The name "Trunk Show" comes from the large display trunks full of shoes (or other merchandise) that these representatives used to have to lug around. Of course, our own knowledgeable and friendly staff will always be on hand to help you!
Why Should I Stop By?
Shopping at these events is a smart move, because we usually offer a discount on select styles and products from the featured brand. If you've been planning to pick up a pair of Birkenstocks or Timberlands, you may want to check on upcoming Trunk Show dates first! You'll also have access to the full line from that brand, including shoes we may not always carry in the store, though particular styles may need to be ordered. If you require an unusual size or width, or you prefer an uncommon color of a particular style, this is a great time to get a special order placed. We're more than happy to have the shoes you want shipped to our store at no additional cost to you!
Just make sure you show up early! While we certainly try to have plenty of stock on hand for our Trunk Shows, the great prices and fun atmosphere mean that the most popular styles may sell out. We can usually order more, but if you want to take your shoes home that day, it's better to be safe than sorry! Plus, sometimes we offer early bird specials, so being first in line could score you a special discount or a free gift with your purchase.
What If I'm Not Looking to Buy?
If you simply want to learn more about a brand—say, what's so great about Naot's cork footbeds or UGG's Treadlite sole—Trunk Shows can be a great place to have that discussion. While we're always excited to answer questions, both at the website office and in stores, Trunk Shows give you a special opportunity to connect with vendor representatives who are experts on the shoes in question, other customers who are fans of the brand and have personal experience to speak from, and of course, our stores' helpful employees, who are particularly focused on that brand for the day.
This is last year's Naot Gives Back event, a Trunk Show at which we donated a pair of shoes to the Julian Center for every pair that was tried on!
Did we mention that Trunk Shows are fun? If you love shopping at Englin's Fine Footwear or Mosser Florsheim on a regular day, you'll REALLY love Trunk Shows. There's always excitement in the air. It's like a party for shoe lovers!
