Our History
Englin’s Fine Footwear is a family-owned local business in Indiana that has been providing our friends and neighbors with the highest quality shoes for more than 68 years. Our corporation was founded as Mosser’s Shoes, Inc. by C. E. Mosser, John W. Mosser, and Robert C. Englin in October 1954, with our first store serving Kokomo, IN. We soon adopted the name “Englin’s Fine Footwear,” a choice we feel embodies the quality of our merchandise and the friendly professionalism of our staff.
In accordance with Robert C. Englin’s vision of establishing a presence in shopping centers, Englin’s gradually expanded from leased departments into the Kokomo Mall in 1964 and Markland Mall (Kokomo) in 1969. Englin’s opened its third location in Tippecanoe Mall (Lafayette) in 1973 along with Naturalizer Castleton, which became our Castleton Square Mall Englin’s store in 2010. Mosser Florsheim Shoes (our men's specialty location) was opened in Lafayette in 1985 and our fourth Englin’s location was opened in the Fashion Mall at Keystone (Indianapolis) in 1989. Our most recent expansion is our fifth Englin’s Fine Footwear store, which opened at Hamilton Town Center (Noblesville) in February 2021.
